Discovering serenity outdoors
Behind this gorgeous pond rests a trail that leads from one end to the other. Behind the trees there is an area where five rocks look exactly like chairs, perfect resting spots for when you've ran a bit too hard up the hill. I sat there and meditated--attempted-- and let all negativity float away. If anyone came across me, they may have thought me to be slightly insane, perhaps because of my straightened posture.
xx cardio
xx lose yourself in whatever you're doing
xx erase all the voices of society (I sat under a tree in the middle of the park instead of my usual picnic table)
xx journal everyday

Beatiful things don't ask for attention
My favorite quote from the Secret Life of Walter Mitty.
The movie was beautiful and inspiring just as I had hoped. However, I believe the trailer with Dirty Paws by Of Monsters and Men continues to stand as my favorite part of this film.
Today I also purchased my notebook which will be accompanying me on all of my journeys. I'm about to leave the first ink mark when I close this computer. Oh, and for dinner, my boyfriend took me to an interesting gas station with a wooden table down the center to eat a Philly cheese steak. It was amazingly good, and something I would've never ordered on my own, or even last year. To new things!

NYE
On New Year's Eve, my boyfriend and I spontaneously traveled to his uncle's lake house to spend time with his family. Usually I stress out about leaving the comfort of my bedroom for a night, but instead I packed up my belongings and enjoyed the ride out to the lake. I let music flood my ears and my brain rest. The night was amazing. At 40 degrees, I was freezing, but kept a fire going. I can lose myself in an outside fire and creating a fire thrills me, something I often forget until I'm in the situation.
After fire gazing, came the fireworks and by 1 a.m., my boyfriend and I crawled up to our one of our favorite beds in the property, shut the curtains, and in the morning, I awoke to this beautiful view.

2014
As the clock struck twelve last evening and the fireworks exploded above me, casting beautiful lights all around, I closed my eyes and made my new year's resolutions. Among the many, I would like to travel more/go on adventures, work out through cardio, think less and act more. Overall, I want to get out of my comfort zone and experience life without all the voices that have been implanted in my head making excuses. During 2013, I graduated from college and am now free to do what I please, well, free in the sense that I don't have a course schedule I need to follow.
Today while leaving a lake house, I heard the voice on the radio state that most new year's resolutions only last a week. What? Why, why would you broadcast this news to everyone? It's as if you've struck a knife into everyone who felt inspired when 2014 came around. Whether we know it or not, those words, those phrases, they affect us deeply.
What I am really trying to do this year is a complete lifestyle change. I'm going to use this blog to document my journey, and hopefully inspire anyone else who wants to get out of their comfort zone and have their new year's resolutions last longer than a week.
xx alyssa
